TEHACHAPI ENERGY STORAGE FACILITY

Co-located within Terra-Gen’s existing wind generation resources in Tehachapi, California, the Tehachapi Energy Storage Project is Terra-Gen’s flagship energy storage facility. It reached commercial operations in 2020 with a capacity of 77 megawatts.

The Tehachapi Energy Storage Facility is a short-duration energy storage facility that produces enough electricity to power 77,000 homes at full operations. It is a ‘behind-the-meter’ facility that is designed to firm Terra-Gen’s co-located wind generation and provide essential ancillary services to the electric grid.
